Tofu Hiyayakko

A summer favourite. Hiyayakko (冷奴) means chilled tofu in Japanese. Traditionally served with grated ginger, spring onion and a drizzle of shoyu soya sauce. This recipe uses fresh coriander and fresh chilli with a drizzle of toasted sesame oil for an exciting side salad or a light meal.

preparation time - 10 mins (chill the tofu before preparing 1 hour )
Ingredients:

1 pack
Clearspring Organic Japanese Tofu - Silken & Smooth (Place in the fridge for 1 hour) - 2 tsp Clearspring Organic Japanese Yaemon Tamari Soya Sauce - Double Strength
- 1 tsp Clearspring Organic Toasted Sesame Oil
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 2 spring onion
- ½ bunch fresh coriander
- ½ fresh red chilli
Method:
- Open the pack of tofu, drain the liquid and place on a plate.
- Peel skin off ginger and grate. On a chopping board, chop spring onion, chilli and coriander.
- Add grated ginger and mix together, then place a generous amount on top of the tofu.
- Drizzle toasted sesame oil followed by the Yaemon Tamari.
- Enjoy straight away.
