Clearspring Amazake - Sweet Grains Dessert is made using time-honoured production processes and just 3 simple organic ingredients - water, whole grains and a pinch of salt. These undergo true alchemy to produce this thick, creamy, dairy-free traditional Japanese dessert. Literally translated as “sweet sake” a koji culture converts the carbohydrates from the whole grains into simple sugars giving rise to the naturally sweet flavour of amazake.

In Japan Amazake (sometimes spelt Amasake), is normally consumed as a drink where it is diluted with hot water, sieved and drunk as a comforting winter warmer. However, it is very versatile and can also be used to add texture and protein to your favourite fruit smoothie, natural sweetness to pancakes and muffins or as a batter to make dairy-free French Toast.

Recipe Change Disappoints in Clearspring’s Brown Rice Amazake

I used to love this dessert for its creamy texture and natural sweetness. It was my favorite treat, with a delicious balance of brown rice flavor and mild sweetness. Recently, though, I noticed the taste and texture aren’t the same. It feels less rich and not as satisfying.

I’m wondering if Clearspring changed the recipe, because it’s just not as tasty as before.

Hi Agnes, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We had an inconsistent batch of Brown Rice Amazake which has now been removed from circulation. We hope this reassures you and you are able to enjoy this product again.

Nurturing drink!

A new discovery for me. I've had it as a warm drink with hot water and a bit of cashew milk as part of my breakfast!

Delicious brown rice amazake.

Unique taste and texture. I love drinking or eating the grains.
It’s a bit strong with sweetness compared to oat amazake.
Enjoyed both.

interesting find

I'm trying more Japanese foods and this is for a dressing for a carrot salad and very nice, I believe it's nice as a drink too but I haven't tried it yet. I have just had the odd spoonful as I believe it's good for the gut too and it's very pleasant
