What is Demeter?

Demeter Logo

Since 1927, Demeter has been the trademark for products from certified biodynamic production, a method of organic farming originally developed by Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner. He introduced the idea of a holistic farming system based around the phases of the moon, composting and mixing crops with livestock.

Key features of Demeter farming: The avoidance of synthetic fertilisers - The use of manures and composts - Frequent crop rotations - Avoidance of chemical soil treatments - Measures to strengthen the life processes in the soil - Consideration of celestial and terrestrial influence.

Excellent

It's not too acidic and simply delicious! I ordered it once to try and up for seconds and more.

Useful standby

Simple, handy and fresh tasting. Good to have in the sore cupboard when you need something extra. Add a little rice vinegar and fresh, grated apple for more buzz.

Bland and salty

It's too bland and salty but it can be fixed by adding some vinegar and sugar.

Tasty

It's light, tasty and doesn't overpower whatever you serve it with. Quite a lot packed into the bottle.

Dee-lish ...

Love this. I alternate this with the sauerkraut to eat with Vienna Schnitzel. Instant meal. So easy. Gorgeous.
