Our popular sushi ginger is now available certified Organic. With its fresh, zesty taste Clearspring Sushi Ginger stimulates the appetite and invigorates the taste buds. It can be eaten straight from the pack, and is so named because it is almost always served with sushi or sashimi, to cleanse the palate between mouthfuls.

Clearspring Sushi Ginger combines well with both Western and Asian dishes. Cut into slivers and add to salads, fried rice or noodles, and stir-fries or use straight from the pack as the perfect complement for tempura and other fried foods, fish and, of course, sushi!

It has a superb flavour and has been prepared from young, tender ginger roots, thinly sliced, briefly salt-pressed then pickled in high quality rice vinegar. It is unsweetened and its colour comes naturally from red shiso herb. In contrast, the ginger pickles found in sushi bars and take-away sushi packs invariably contain sugar, dyes and cheap vinegar.

Too salty

My first time ordering and having this. Somehow the ginger slides are too salty and became inedible to everyone in my family. We had our fair share of such sushi ginger while living in Asia. Possibly bad luck with my batch given all positive reviews given before.

If you are comparing this to the Sushi Ginger you find in takeaways or at restaurants, it is a very different product and in comparison much saltier.

The reason being, ours is traditionally pickled with salt and high quality rice vinegar and contains no added sugar or sweeteners, whereas the more common ginger found in takeaways and restaurants contains added sugar and preservatives and is therefore quite sweet in comparison and tastes quite different.

We're aware it's partly down to personal preference, but we're confident our product is of superior quality and we hope you'd be willing to try it again with this in mind.
